A covert police operation in Diani has resulted in the arrest of three individuals suspected of running a counterfeit money syndicate operating across the Coast region.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the group is believed to have been circulating fake cash in Mombasa and surrounding areas before officers raided their hideout.
Detectives tracked the suspects after intelligence linked them to a concealed location in Diani thought to be central to the illegal operation.

The three, Fadhili Lawrence, Atemba Lawrence, and Electrine Okwako were arrested after forensic leads guided police to the hideout where the counterfeit activities were reportedly taking place.
According to the agency, inside the hideout, police recovered a large stash of fake Ksh1,000 notes.
Investigators suspect the three are linked to a larger network involved in circulating counterfeit currency across the Coast region.
The trio remains in custody as police pursue additional members of the syndicate.
