Sifuna Confirms Homa Bay as Next Stop for Linda Mwananchi Tour

The Linda Mwananchi movement is set to resume its nationwide political caravans later this month after taking a short break following its July rallies.

The group concluded its previous tour with back-to-back rallies in Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties on July 25 and 26, attracting large crowds.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who has emerged as one of the movement’s key leaders, has announced that the next stop of the caravan will be Homa Bay County.

According to a poster shared by the senator, the rally is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 16.

The choice of Homa Bay is politically significant, as the county is part of the Luo Nyanza region, a traditional ODM stronghold.

The rally comes amid shifting political alliances within ODM, with the Linda Mwananchi movement attracting support from several party members who have distanced themselves from the party’s mainstream leadership after ODM entered a working arrangement with President William Ruto’s administration.

At the same time, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga remains among the senior ODM leaders who have publicly backed cooperation with President Ruto.

The upcoming rally is expected to test the movement’s influence in one of ODM’s traditional support bases as it continues its grassroots mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 General Election.
