The National Police Service (NPS) has intensified its crackdown on phone theft syndicates, arresting four suspects and recovering 132 mobile phones during an intelligence-led operation in Kayole, Nairobi.
In a statement, the NPS said officers from Kayole Police Station conducted the operation in the Nyaura area after acting on intelligence about a suspected criminal network involved in the theft and illegal trade of mobile phones.
According to the police, the operation led to the arrest of four suspects, including a man believed to be a key receiver of mobile phones stolen by street snatchers.

The three other suspects are also believed to have been involved in a series of phone-snatching incidents within the area.
During the raid, officers recovered 132 assorted mobile phones, several mobile phone motherboards, and two laptops believed to have been used in or connected to the illegal operation.
The police said the recovery is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks that profit from stolen property and contribute to the rising cases of street robberies.
NPS reiterated its commitment to protecting members of the public by targeting organised criminal enterprises involved in phone theft and the illegal resale of stolen devices.
Investigations into the syndicate are ongoing, with detectives pursuing other suspects believed to be linked to the operation.
The police urged members of the public to continue sharing information that can assist in combating crime and bringing offenders to justice.
