Detectives have arrested a suspect who has reportedly been notorious for impersonating police officers around the Kilimani area.
In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the areest took place after detectives responded to a distress call from a casino in Yaya Centre, Kilimani in the early hours of Monday, August 3.
The authority stated that the suspect was found inside a black motor vehicle.
During the operation, detectives recovered several crucial items, including a CZ 75 SP-01 pistol and an empty 9mm magazine.
The police also recovered a pair of handcuffs, a fake Certificate of Appointment identifying him as a Police Constable and a fake firearm certificate.
The suspect later led detectives to his house, where officers discovered what appeared to be elaborate efforts to conceal his alleged impersonation of a police officer.
During a search of the residence in Waluku Village, Dagoretti North, investigators recovered 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition packed in two boxes, each containing 50 rounds, adding to the exhibits already seized during the operation.
The suspect is currently in custody awaiting arraignment in court.
“The suspect is undergoing processing pending arraignment as detectives intensify investigations to establish the source of the recovered firearm and ammunition, and to determine the full extent of his alleged impersonation activities,” DCI stated.
