Police Arrest Two in Connection with Fatal Shooting of Psychologist Dr Victoria Mutiso

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has apprehended two suspects as investigations into the fatal shooting of renowned clinical psychologist Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso continues.

This marks the first breakthrough in the high-profile murder case.

In a statement on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the authority said the two individuals are in custody and are undergoing interrogation as homicide detectives continue piecing together the circumstances surrounding the killing.

DCI also confirmed that detectives conducted searches at premises linked to the two.

During the operation, the police recovered exhibits that are now undergoing forensic analysis as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.

According to the DCI, homicide detectives, supported by specialised investigative and forensic teams, have been pursuing multiple leads through witness interviews, forensic examinations and targeted operations since taking over the case.

However, the identities of the two persons of interest have not been disclosed yet.

DCI revealed that the information is being withheld to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

This comes a day after Mutiso was shot dead in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area in what investigators believe was a targeted attack.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the psychologist had requested an online taxi service before she was led into an ambush near Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

She dies while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
