The National Police Service (NPS) has distanced itself from a fake document circulating on social media that claims to announce the appointment of new Officers Commanding Stations (OCSs) across various police stations in Nairobi.
In a statement on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the police service termed the widely circulated document as fake, warning members of the public against relying on the unverified information.
The forged document, titled ‘Re: Appointment of Nairobi OCSs,’ listed purported appointments for more than 30 police stations within Nairobi County.
The document had alleged leadership changes in several stations, including Central, Kilimani, Kasarani, Embakasi, Gigiri, Kayole, Dandora, Zimmerman and Githura.
However, the service clarified that the document did not originate from the security institution and does not represent any official deployment or transfer of officers.
The latest clarification is expected to put to rest speculation over the alleged reshuffle of Nairobi OCSs after the fake appointment list gained traction across multiple social media platforms.
NPS genuine appointments, transfers or promotions within the police service are communicated through official statements and authorised channels.
