Mukurwe-ini MP John Kaguchia has claimed that heavily armed men surrounded the Royal Media Services (RMS) headquarters in Nairobi in an attempt to arrest him.
This he alleged was shortly after he appeared on a live television programme.
“After my Kiririmbi Show this evening, a contingent of police surrounded Royal Media Studios and erected roadblocks with intentions of arresting me. I will not be intimidated whatsoever,” Kaguchia said.
He further claimed that none of the officers at the scene were in police uniform, raising questions about the identity of those involved in the operation.
Further reports indicate that motorists also reported unusual activity along Maalim Juma Road near the junction with Dennis Pritt Road, where half of the road was reportedly blocked using spike strips, forcing vehicles to use a single lane.
According to close sources, several heavily armed masked men, who were not in police uniforms, stopped and searched vehicles heading towards the Royal Media Services premises.
However, authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the officers or the purpose of the operation.
