Suba South Member of Parliament Caroli Omondi has disclosed that the Linda Mwananchi faction is planning to introduce a new school subject dubbed “National Science” as part of proposed education reforms.
Speaking during former Chief Justice David Maraga’s State of the Nation address on Tuesday, June 16, Omondi said a related bill has already been presented in the National Assembly.
The Education Laws Amendment Bill seeks to integrate the proposed subject into the curriculum with the aim of instilling national values and principles of governance as outlined in the Constitution.

The initiative is anchored on provisions that emphasize integrity, leadership, and public service ethics.
Omondi explained that the proposed subject is intended to address gaps in civic education by embedding constitutional values into early learning, thereby strengthening national cohesion and responsible citizenship among learners.
He further noted that the broader legislative push by MPs aligned to the Linda Mwananchi faction is aimed at reinforcing constitutional implementation, particularly provisions relating to national values, leadership standards, and public service ethics.
In addition to education reforms, the faction has also introduced the Central Bank of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, which seeks to make cash payments an optional mode of transaction across businesses.
The proposal is also aimed at addressing taxation concerns associated with digital transactions.
Another proposed law, the Public Finance Management (Amendment) Bill, is expected to restructure the budget-making process by ensuring clearer breakdowns of funds allocated to individual constituencies, with the goal of enhancing transparency and accountability in public spending.
The proposed legislative agenda signals renewed efforts by the faction to influence policy reforms across education, finance, and governance systems in the country.
