A police officer is on the run after allegedly shooting and killing a 45-year-old woman at the GSU Mess compound in Naiberi, Ainabkoi, Uasin Gishu County.
The incident happened on Sunday, August 30, around 5 pm, following a dispute between the woman and a police constable who was armed with a rifle.
Police officers who visited the scene found that the woman had been at the compound taking alcohol when the confrontation occurred.

The incident was reported at around 5:30 pm by a senior sergeant attached to GSU Camp Eldoret.
The deceased was identified as Doris Murei Nandi. According to police, she had a dispute with PC Nathan Kirwa before the officer shot her with a rifle, killing her instantly.
Senior police officers from Uasin Gishu County and Ainabkoi, along with detectives, the Scene of Crime Management Unit, STAPOL Naiberi, and other officers visited the scene.
Seven spent 9mm cartridges were recovered, together with a Toyota Corolla 110 bearing registration number KAR 371U and a rifle holster, all believed to belong to the suspect.
The woman’s body was taken to Eldoret Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Kirwa fled the scene after the shooting and remains at large as police continue efforts to trace and arrest him.
