Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has left the country for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he will represent President William Ruto at the Infra for Africa Forum 2026.
Kindiki departed on Wednesday, August 5, accompanied by Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira.
The two-day forum, being held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), has brought together Heads of State, government officials, investors, infrastructure leaders and development partners from across the continent.

This year’s event is themed “A Decade of Economic Impact: From Ambition to Delivery” and will focus on key areas including energy, digital infrastructure, domestic capital, power grids and Africa’s future workforce, with discussions aimed at translating development plans into actionable investment opportunities.
The trip comes less than a week after Kindiki travelled to Entebbe, Uganda, where he represented President Ruto at the Second Extraordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The summit brought together leaders and senior officials from Somalia, Uganda, Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Egypt, alongside representatives from the African Union (AU), the United Nations (UN) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
Following the meeting, Kindiki said the leaders agreed to pursue additional resource mobilisation efforts to sustain AUSSOM and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Somalia’s long-term peace, security, stability and development.
AUSSOM was established in August 2024 with an initial 12-month mandate to support security and stabilisation efforts in Somalia. In November 2025, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) approved a one-year extension of the mission’s mandate.
