Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has declared his intention to contest the Dagoretti North parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
Alai announced his bid on Saturday, August 1, through a statement addressed to residents of Dagoretti North, presenting himself as a trained computer scientist with more than 22 years of experience in logistics, information and communication technology (ICT), and communications.
He described the parliamentary seat as one of the country’s most demanding positions and said he was seeking the mandate of voters to represent the constituency.

The MCA said his appeal was directed to parents struggling to educate their children, unemployed youth seeking opportunities, traders looking to expand their businesses, women concerned about security, residents facing traffic challenges, and families hoping for improved living standards.
Alai maintained that his experience in public service had equipped him to serve the constituency effectively.
He pointed to his four-year tenure as Kileleshwa Ward MCA, saying it had demonstrated his work ethic, accessibility, and commitment to addressing residents’ concerns.
He added that serving as a Member of Parliament would provide a wider platform to tackle the challenges facing the people of Dagoretti North and advance development initiatives across the constituency.
If elected, Alai will challenge incumbent Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, who has represented the constituency since winning the 2022 General Election on an ODM ticket.
Elachi secured the seat with 52,515 votes, defeating her closest challenger, Elijah Oenga, who garnered 13,620 votes.
