The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has launched a public appeal for information that could help trace one of its senior officers who has been reported missing.
In a notice issued on Monday, June 15, the agency announced the disappearance of Esther Wairimu Keige, a manager in its Legal Services department, and urged members of the public to assist in efforts to locate her.
KFS expressed concern over her whereabouts and called on anyone who may have seen her or has information regarding her movements to report to the nearest police station or contact the agency through the hotline numbers provided.
The service shared several contact numbers for members of the public to relay any information that may aid investigations, emphasizing the importance of community support in locating the missing officer.
The appeal comes amid growing concern over a number of recent missing persons cases across the country.
Separately, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday appealed to Kenyans to help track down a suspect linked to the disappearance of a four-year-old child in Nakuru County.
According to investigators, the child was reported missing on June 11, prompting an intensive search by detectives from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau.
Authorities allege that the suspect later contacted the child’s family and attempted to demand a ransom.
Detectives subsequently traced the suspect to the Quarry area of Rongai, but he reportedly escaped after realizing police were closing in on him.
A search of a room believed to have been occupied by the suspect led to the recovery of a mobile phone, personal belongings, and a mother-and-child clinic booklet bearing details of another minor from Nakuru County.
The DCI has since appealed to the public to share any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest as investigations continue and efforts to locate the missing child intensify.
