The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary partial closure of a section of Mombasa Road (A8) near the Highway Educational Complex at Bellevue.
The closure is expected to take place from Monday, August 10, to Monday, September 14, 2026, to facilitate the construction of a box culvert.
According to a notice issued on Monday, August 3, 2026, the temporary traffic disruption will affect both bound lanes, with closures implemented interchangeably to allow construction works to proceed while maintaining the flow of traffic.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) notifies the public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) at the Highway Educational Complex near Bellevue, on both bound lanes, will be temporarily and interchangeably closed from Monday, August 10, 2026, to Monday, September 14, 2026,” KeNHA stated.
The authority explained that the temporary traffic disruption is necessary to facilitate the construction of a box culvert along the affected section of the highway.
KeNHA further assured motorists that measures have been put in place to minimise inconvenience during the construction period.Instead of completely closing the road, drivers will continue using the lanes that remain open, with traffic being redirected as construction progresses.
“All motorists using this road section will utilise the unclosed two lanes, which shall be provided interchangeably during the construction period to minimise traffic,” the authority added.
