Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has urged Kenyans not to allow politics to divide families, friendships and communities.
In a statement on his social media account on Friday, July 31, 2026, Mosiria reminded Kenyans that politicians often reconcile after heated political battles, while ordinary citizens are left dealing with the consequences of political hostility.
He reminded Kenyans that politics is a profession and should not become a reason for violence or hatred.
“Politics is a job. Don’t die for someone else’s career. Politicians who appear to be fierce rivals in public often maintain cordial relationships behind the scene. The politician you are insulting people for today may be sharing tea with the politician you hate tomorrow. They fight in public, but they negotiate in private,” the county Chief said.
Mosiria calls for political peace
He urged enyans to reflect on how political differences have damaged personal relationships.
“Meanwhile, you have stopped talking to your brother, your neighbour and your best friend because of politics. Think about that,” Mosiria added.
He also pointed out that politicians’ children often continue with their lives regardless of political tensions.
“The children of politicians often go to the same schools, their families know each other, and many are friends. But when protests turn violent, whose children are on the streets? Mostly, it is the children of ordinary Kenyans,” Mosiria further said.
The county Chief also urged Kenyans to vote wisely, demand accountability from leaders and focus on improving their own lives rather than becoming involved in political conflicts.
