The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has apprehended three suspects, among them a Member of County Assembly (MCA), over the illegal possession of a firearm in Nairobi.
This was after the detectives raided the MCA’s office in the Roasters area in Nairobi.
According to the DCI reports, he was arrested on June 23, alongside two other men, as investigations into the matter remained ongoing.
During the operation, detectives recovered a Glock pistol from the MCA’s office, together with a magazine loaded with 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
“Three suspects, including a Member of County Assembly (MCA), are now behind bars following a police operation at the Roasters area of Nairobi that led to the recovery of a Glock pistol,β part of the statement by the DCI read.
Detectives revealed that the arrests were made after the DCI determined that the firearm was being held without a valid licence through preliminary investigations, which is a criminal offence under Kenyan law.
All three suspects were taken into custody pending arraignment in court.
