Chinese National Found Dead at Talanta Stadium Project, Police Launch Inquiry

Police have launched investigations into the sudden death of a Chinese worker who was found dead in a latrine at the Talanta Stadium construction site.

According to reports, the incident was first known on Monday, March 30, 2026, in the morning by security personnel stationed at the facility in Jamhuri, Nairobi.

Reports indicate that a chef attached to the Chinese management at the stadium discovered the adult male inside a community toilet.

The discovery prompted the security officers and other Chinese nationals rushed the worker to Nairobi Hospital.

But unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

However, circumstances surrounding his death are not clear.

According to the authorities, there was a slight injury on the right side of the man’s head.

The body has since been moved to Lee Funeral Home, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the official cause of death.

The police on the other hand visited the scene of the incident and launched a probe into the matter.

Talanta Stadium is set to be renamed Raila Odinga Stadium after the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who passed away while receiving treatment in India.

It is currently under construction and employs a number of Chinese nationals, which has drawn attention to the incident.

The 60,000-seat facility has been under construction since March 2024 and is scheduled to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
