Siaya Governor James Orengo has welcomed former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa to the Linda Mwananchi movement following her exit from the ruling UDA party.
In a social media post on Friday, July 31, Orengo announced Jumwa’s entry into the opposition-aligned movement and shared a video showing the two leaders meeting in Malindi.
The footage captured Orengo arriving by air before he and Jumwa exchanged warm greetings and embraced ahead of a private meeting.

Jumwa’s move comes just a day after she publicly announced that she had resigned from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), saying the decision followed extensive consultations and personal reflection.
The former Cabinet Secretary cited political frustrations and alleged mistreatment within the ruling party, claiming that despite her support for President William Ruto, she had been sidelined and humiliated.
Among her grievances, Jumwa alleged that she was denied entry to State House during a meeting between the President and Coast region leaders.
She also claimed her attempts to reach the Head of State went unanswered, leaving her feeling abandoned despite her loyalty to his political camp.
Her decision to join the Linda Mwananchi movement adds to a series of recent political realignments as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
