Senator Gloria Orwoba Pleads for Forgiveness as She Begins Her 3 Months Suspension

Senator Gloria Orwoba has asked her colleagues in the Senate to forgive her for misconduct that led to her suspension.

Orwoba acknowledged that she had learned from the experience and would conduct herself better upon her return.

“I offer my apologies to the Members of this House and the members of staff whom I might have offended while pursuing my oversight duties. Please take this as my sincere apology. As you can see, I have learned how to present and represent people better. I take responsibility for my actions and hope you can forgive me,” Orwoba stated.

The senator has been suspended and is expected to serve the suspension for 79 calendar days until May 1, 2025.

This means that senator Orwoba will keep off all Parliamentary activities.

Moreover, Orwoba was suspended from the House for the remainder of the second session of the 13th Parliament.

Back in September 2023, the Committee on Powers and Privileges recommended her suspension over claims that a clerk at the Senate had assaulted her.

However, Orwoba went to court and obtained an order restraining the House from implementing its verdict.

Judge Lawrence Mugambi sided with the Senate’s decision, ruling that the senator had been given a chance to appear before the Powers and Privileges Committee to defend herself but had snubbed the session.
