An additional 144 police officers have arrived in Haiti.
This marks fourth Kenyan contingent of police officers joining the Multinational Security Support (MSS).
The additional troop which includes 120 men and elite all-female SWAT team arrived on Thursday 6th February 2025 in the evening.
The total number of Kenyan police in Haiti now sums up to 744.
The troop were sent off by Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen accompanied by IG Douglas Kanja, PS Ray Omollo, Foreign and Diaspora PS Singoei Korir, National Security Advisor Dr. Monica Juma and Deputy National Advisor Mr. Joseph Boinett among other senior officials.
CS Kipchumba Murkomen assured Kenyans that the United Nations and other countries are supporting the mission including the USA.
We’re constantly in touch with the UN and countries supporting this mission including the USA whose support in equipment and funding has been invaluable and unwavering.
The CS stated.
The contingent was welcomed by the President of the Transition President Council (TPC), Leslie Voltaire, Prime Minister Didier Casimir, Haiti National Police Director General Normil Rameau and MSS Force Commander Godfrey Otunge among others.
Kenya had officially pledged to send 1,000 security personnel to Haiti, this latest deployment the country is nearing to honor its pledge.
