Former Real Madrid Left-back, Marcelo, Retires from Professional Football

Marcelo, aged 36, retires from professional football with many trophies and awards in his cabinet.

Marcelo made the announcement on his social media handles via a video clip. One of the most talented full-backs in football history has retired from football after 721 appearances, 58 goals, 117 assists, and 31 trophies won for club and country.

Marcelo has been involved in making the rich history of Real Madrid and is one of the great legends of the club and of world football.

On an individual level, Marcelo, as a Real Madrid player, has been included in the FIFA FIFPRO World 11 on six occasions. With Fluminense FC, he won 1 Copa Libertadores and 1 Recopa Sudamericana.

In addition to his titles with Real Madrid, Marcelo was crowned champion of the 2013 Confederations Cup with the Brazilian national team, with which he also won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games and a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
