Rapper Kanye West has disclosed that he was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder but now diagnosed with autism.
This he said in a podcast admitting that his wife Bianca Censori suggested that he be rediagnosed.
Censori felt there was a misdiagnosis according to his bipolar symptoms.
I went to this doctor…My wife took me to do that because she said, ‘something about your personality doesn’t feel like it’s bipolar, I’ve seen a bipolar before’. And I’ve come to find that it’s really a case of autism that I have.
He spoke.
The rapper said that the diagnosis helped him better understand his behaviour.
He sampled 2018 where he wore a cape reading ‘Make America Great Again’ and praised Donald Trump.
Autism takes you to a Rain man thing. I’ma swear this Trump hat because I like Trump in general. And when people tell you not to do it, you just get on that point. And that’s my problem.
West added.
The rapper recalled that when a fan tells him to do an album in a certain way, he does the exact opposite.
A lot of what was sending me into those episodes…the constant feeling of not being in control spun me out of control.
West also said.
West further said that he does not take medication for autism.
I haven’t taken the medication since I found out that bipolar wasn’t the right diagnosis. It’s finding stuffs that doesn’t block the creativity, obviously that’s what I bring to the world. It’s worth the ramp-up, as long as ya’ll get the creativity.
During the Grammy’s Award 2025, West caused controversy after appearing with his wife at the red carpet of the event.
Bianca Censori turned heads after being seen with an almost ‘nude outfit’.
Some alleged that she wore that way due to the mental state of Kanye West.
