Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has written a demand letter to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu seeking to know why he is not allowed to enter Tanzania.
The Embakasi MP had previously visited Tanzania in December 2024 and was denied access to entry as the immigration officers rejected his passport and casually informed him that he was on the list of personae non grata.
However, in his letter dated 3rd February 2025, Babu Owino claimed that the act was a total injustice to him as he had every legal requirement.

I am a Citizen of Eastern African Community, specifically Kenya, for that matter. I am an elected Member of the Kenyan Parliament, which is duly represented in EALA, whose seat is in Tanzania.
Babu Owino stated.
Kenya, as a sovereign state, issues travelling passports for citizens, which are recognized by other States under International law. All those rights and fundamental freedom appears to me as a citizen of this planet.
He added.
Confirming that he has all it takes to enter Tanzania, the Embakasi MP wanted to know why he cannot enter the country for business or legal or friendly purposes.
I am placing this special request to your office to appraise me in writing on the reason why I am not allowed to enter into Tanzania for business, or as a representative of the people of Kenya, or as a friend of the people of Tanzania and any other legitimate reasons.
