There was chaos in Uasin Gishu County as goons attempted to disrupt an event in front of dignitaries including governors.
A fundraiser was held at Moi’s Bridge Township for victims of a devastating fire that razed down property worth millions on Saturday, January 1.
Several dignitaries, including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Bomet Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok, attended the fundraiser, which started off smoothly.

However, the situation changed when Soy MP David Kiplagat arrived at the event with a large group of rowdy youths who stormed the podium.
Police officers were forced to step in, but were overwhelmed by the sheer number of citizens engaging in physical altercations at the venue.
According to leaders at the event, the goons who wanted to disrupt were paid by an area leader.
Speaking at the event after the chaos, MP Sudi fired a warning to an unnamed element regarding using youth to further divisive politics.
“I’m shocked. Instead of giving money to help the youth start businesses, we’re giving them money to fight and disrupt events. Let’s stop this politics of the old. I am not poor. I have a lot of money. I can pay you all here two thousand each. I am not someone to be intimidated. Stop the nonsense!” Sudi stated.
