Over 60 students at Kalyet Secondary School have been rushed to the Hospital.
This was after eating githeri (mixture of beans and maize) on Sunday during lunchtime and complaining of persistent stomach pains.
After the situation got worse, the school decided to rush them to Londiani Hospital on Monday morning 27th January 2025.
According to reports, Majority of them showed early vomiting symptoms that persisted overnight.
While at the hospital, it was confirmed that the authorities at the hospital have done all they could to ensure the students were properly attended to but warned about lack of space to manage the situation in case of increased students.
We have managed to treat all of them, and all are stable after receiving medications ranging from antibiotics to fluids.
The medical superintendent of the facility said.
The challenge we have had with handling most of them is space. Our outpatient’s department is severely over-utilized, especially with this mass incidents, and we would appeal for assistance with expansion process.
The Facility Superintendent added.
