Kenya, Guinea-Bissau Strengthen Trade Ties in New Partnership

President William Ruto has acclaimed the diplomatic and trade ties which exist between Kenya and Guinea-Bissau.

The President said that the visit by the President of Guinea-Bissau speaks the deep bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

We have just concluded highly productive bilateral discussions with my dear brother, during which we reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening and asserting the excellent relations that exists between our countries

The Head of the Republic said.

Together, we are committed to harnessing this potential to drive economic growth for the benefit of our people

He added.

As the Champions of African Union Institutional Reforms, the Head of State said that he would work with Guinea-Bissau to advance reforms of the African Union, promote peace and drive economic growth.

The reforms would include restructuring the African Court of Justice to provide legal mechanisms for resolving disputes and aligning the role of the Pan-African Parliament to make fit for the purpose.

While speaking, the Head of the republic emphasized that peace and security must be top priority as there cannot be much investment and trade in an environment of conflict and insecurity.

President Ruto also disclosed that the two countries are exploring the opening of a Kenya Airways route to Guinea-Bissau to enhance connectivity between the two countries.

The Head of state further thanked the President of Guinea Bissau for endorsing Kenya’s candidate for the position of African Union Commission (AUC) who on the other hand reaffirmed Guinea-Bissau’s commitment to establishing peace and stability in Africa for shared prosperity.
