Kenya Police Bullets FC Beat Kisped 0-1 to Maintain Top of the Table Slot

Kenya Police Bullets FC beat Kisped FC 1-0 at Moi Stadium, Kisumu to ensure they stay top of the Kenya Women Premier League table as they look forward to how second placed Kibera Socce Women FC will fair play Sunday 26th.

The law enforcers having already roped in Harambee Starlets u17 Captain Elizabeth Ochaka at the start of the season, again went for Vidah Okeyo straight outta Butere Girls High School. Vidah joined in to fill in the gap left by last season’s Most Valuable Player, Lydia Akoth ‘ozil‘ who transferred to Tanzania Women’s Premier side Yanga Princess on a 6 months loan deal. The Bullets also boosted their rich squad as they signed Eunice Mwangi ‘yuyu’ from Ulinzi Starlets.

Bullets FC Head Coach Beldine Odemba handed the 17-year-old Vidah Okeyo a starting 11 debut at the heart of the midfield while Eunice Mwangi came on the bench. Police FC seemed to have traveled for business as they looked forward to defending the league and in the 13th minute their main striker who was also the captain of the day netted an opening goal. The goal extended her tally to 9 goals second to Catherine Khaemba who tops the list with 10 goals.

The match headed to the break with only a goal separating the two sides. The second half then turned into a Kisped affair as they came back with extra energy pushing for an equalizer. Mishi Mbaru, Bullets keeper was forced into a couple of 1v1 saves to guard the Bullets goalpost. As if this was not enough, she went ahead to save a penalty in the 63rd minute proving why she was chosen to play in the match.

The number of Kisped missed chances came to haunt them as debutante Eunice Mwangi made it to the pitch in the 75th minute. Her clinical touch of the ball together with speed made an immediate impact in the match as she helped create scoring chances that were not utilized. In the 86th minute, she took it upon herself to make her efforts count but her shot hit the bar.
