Darwin Nunez Strikes a Brace at Added Time to Give Liverpool FC Three Points

Darwin Nunez\’s double strike at added time gifted Liverpool FC a dramatic win and all three maximum points as they beat Brendford 2-0.

Coming on from the bench at the 65th minute, he did not seem to be the saviour the Reds needed until he stepped up to gift them a goal at the 91st minute mark, and as if that was not enough, he again braced it up with another strike at the 93rd minute of added time.

In what was an end-to-end match, Brendford kicked off the match with a first attack at the Gtech Community Stadium. The bees seemed so determined to knock down the league leaders, but in all cases, the Reds proved why they are top by defending well and attacking at the same time. The Reds Dominik Szoboszlai was unfortunate not to break the deadlock in the 34th minute, as his well-curved free kick was denied by the crossbar despite beating the goalkeeper.

The Arne Slot-coached side almost found the back of the net with four minutes to head into stoppage time, but a Luiz Diaz low shot was well taken care of by the Bees keeper, ensuring they both went to break logged at loggerheads.

The second half came back with a Liverpool FC change in tactic to attack and pile pressure up front with the urge to get a goal, but the Bees defensively handled all the threats armicably. Bringing on Darwin Nunez in the 65th minute did not seem as what Liverpool needed, as still towards the 90th minute no team had found the back of the net, piling pressure on the Reds as they needed the match to keep up their right foot ahead on the table.

A minute into the three added minutes, Nunez stepped up and found himself in the right position inside the 18-yard area to pull home an Alexander-Arnold cut-back to send the whole team wild, as they indeed needed the goal. Leaving nothing, by chance, the No. 9 sealed the three points by adding on a second goal by a nice touch into the roof of the net to the last-minute counterattack.
