The government dismisses claims of allegedly hiring two PR firms to enhance Kenya’s global reputation.
The two new international agencies that were being referred to were APO group and Zawya.
The government issued a statement through their spokesperson Isaac Mwaura clarifying on the roles of the two companies and stated that they don’t have commercial ties with them.

The clarification followed an online publication that claimed the two new agencies were on the government’s payroll with the of allegedly helping President Ruto to repair his tarnished image.
The publication also claimed that the government was paying online bloggers between 30,000 and 100,000 monthly to publicize achievements and promote the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The publication also highlighted a decision by top government official to hire media and communications experts to repair the government’s image.
To clarify, there are no commercial ties with these organizations. APO has been sharing Presidency news pro bono since March 2020, prior to President Ruto’s tenure to help amplify American voices.
