Police officers have arrested five suspects accused of stealing mobile phones from members of the public during a political rally at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi.
In a statement issued on Sunday, November 1, the National Police Service (NPS) said officers from Starehe Sub-County conducted an operation at the venue on Saturday evening, October 31, following reports of criminal activities targeting rally attendees.

A search conducted after their arrest led to the recovery of eight mobile phones suspected to have been stolen during the rally.
Police detained the five suspects as they await arraignment in court, while the recovered phones were secured as exhibits.
The NPS warned criminal gangs against using political rallies and other public gatherings as opportunities to rob, harass or target members of the public.
The service also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of people attending lawful public gatherings.
