Gachagua Hosts Kalonzo, Wiper Leaders Ahead of 2027 Elections

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua hosted Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and a delegation of opposition leaders at his Wamunyoro residence on Monday, 26 October 2026, for talks on opposition unity.

Gachagua, accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, welcomed Kalonzo, whom he referred to as his cousin, alongside leaders from the Wiper Party.

The delegation included Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. and Kitui Governor Julius Malombe.

Other leaders present included Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha, Nyandarua Senator John Methu, Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa, Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia and East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega.

The Wiper and DCP leaders held joint discussions before Gachagua and Kalonzo proceeded to private talks.

The meeting came after Gachagua held talks with Senator Methu, the DCP Secretary General-designate, who briefed him on the party’s progress during his two-month visit to the United States.

Methu reported growing membership and increased interest from aspirants seeking elective positions across the country.

The latest meeting also followed Gachagua’s engagement with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi team at Wamunyoro on Mashujaa Day.

During that meeting, the former Deputy President said they discussed the country’s political future and the formation of the Sixth Administration.

Wamunyoro has increasingly featured in opposition political consultations as leaders explore possible cooperation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
