Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, October 25, 2026, after Kylian Mbappe scored twice to secure a crucial victory in the first El Clasico of the 2026/27 La Liga season.
Mbappe opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Yan Diomande’s cross deflected off Barcelona defender Gerard Martín and into the net, giving Real Madrid a 1-0 lead at half-time.
Barcelona responded after the break, with Raphinha equalising in the 61st minute after receiving a pass from Pedri and finishing past Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.
The hosts pushed for a winner, but Real Madrid struck decisively in the 87th minute.
Jude Bellingham initiated the attacking move before Eduardo Camavinga advanced into the penalty area and supplied Mbappe, who finished to complete his brace and secure all three points for the visitors.
The victory marked Barcelona’s first domestic defeat of the season and ended their nine-match winning start in La Liga.
It also strengthened Real Madrid’s title challenge under head coach José Mourinho.
Despite the defeat, Barcelona remained top of the standings with 27 points from 10 matches, while Real Madrid moved to 24 points in third place, reducing the gap between the rivals to three points.
Mbappe’s decisive performance and Madrid’s ability to capitalise on late opportunities gave the visitors a significant boost in the early stages of the title race.
