FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing renewed criticism from European football officials over the governing body’s handling of a controversial commercial proposal.
The latest criticism came from Danish Football Association President Jesper Moller, who accused FIFA of avoiding important questions concerning the abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise plan.
The proposal included plans to sell commercial stakes in FIFA competitions, including the World Cup, to private investors.
The plan faced opposition from several football confederations and national associations before it was abandoned.
Moller said FIFA’s Legal Committee had failed to properly address questions about the proposal during a meeting on 12 September.
He argued that the committee should have examined the legal and governance concerns surrounding the plan instead of postponing the discussion to a future FIFA Council meeting.
The Danish official also renewed his call for Infantino to step down, saying FIFA could not restore confidence under the current leadership.
Infantino is expected to seek re-election in March 2027. Reuters reported that he still has significant support from several national associations, including countries from Africa, South America, Oceania and other regions.
However, opposition has continued to grow among some European football officials, particularly over transparency and decision-making at FIFA.
The FIFA presidential election is scheduled to take place in Rabat, Morocco, on 18 March 2027.
The leadership dispute comes at a time when FIFA is preparing for major international competitions and facing calls for stronger accountability in its commercial and governance operations.
FIFA has not indicated that Infantino will resign before the election.
