KeNHA Issues 35-Day Partial Closure Notice for Mombasa Road

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has cautioned motorists of traffic disruptions along Mombasa Road as construction works begin at the Cabanas-Eastern Bypass off-ramp.

In a statement, the authority, announced that a section of Mombasa Road at the Cabanas-Eastern Bypass off-ramp, along the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)-bound section, will be partially closed.

According to KeNHA, the temporary closure will run from Thursday, September 17, to Thursday, October 22, 2026, to allow the construction of a box drain along the affected section.

Therefore, motorists travelling towards JKIA from the Eastern Bypass will be directed through a designated diversion lane during the construction period.

The authority said traffic marshals will be deployed to guide motorists and ensure that traffic flows with minimal disruption while the works are underway.

“Motorists intending to use Mombasa Road (JKIA-bound) from Eastern Bypass will use the provided diversion lane and follow the proposed directions by traffic marshals,” KeNHA stated.

Furthermore, motorists have been advised to follow the traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals stationed at the site.
