A new bill has been proposed in parliament seeking to stop the live streaming of presidential election results.
According to the bill, the IEBC will only post results online including portal uploads for public access and deliver them physically.
The bill currently at the senate, calls for the deletion of Section 39 of the Elections Act, which currently mandates the IEBC to facilitate public access by live-streaming results, stating that such broadcasts are for informational purposes only and do not form the basis for declaring election outcomes.

Moreover, polling station results would remain final, and the presidential election results must be electronically transmitted, tallied, announced, and declared before results from other elective posts.
Relating it to President Ruto, many have termed the proposal as a scheming way to rig the election in 2027.
Others have criticized the bill raising concerns about transparency and the accessibility of real-time election updates.
In February 2022 president william Ruto who by then was the Deputy President was against the same proposal.
