Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has hit back at critics who accused him of turning his footbridge safety campaign into a clout-chasing exercise.
This was after an accident scene involving a young man who had been hit by a bus on Thika Road.
In a post on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the County Chief said the incident happened as he was driving along the Thika Road Superhighway towards Nairobi’s Central Business District, where he came across the injured young man lying in a critical condition after being struck by a moving bus.
“SAD ROAD ACCIDENT!!! VIEWERS DISCRETION!!! WALE WATU WA MATUSI KUJENI HAPA! Tonight, while driving along the Thika Road Superhighway towards the CBD, I came across a heartbreaking accident where a young man had been hit by a moving bus just a few metres away from a footbridge,” Mosiria stated.
The County Chief said he immediately called for an ambulance to respond to the scene and help evacuate the injured man, who was already in a critical condition.
Additionally, he alerted traffic officers, who arrived to help control traffic around the scene and support the evacuation process.
“I immediately called for an ambulance to respond and help rescue him, although he was already in a very critical condition. I also alerted traffic officers to help control the situation, manage traffic, and support the evacuation process,” he added.
