The National Police Service (NPS) has apprehended and arraigned 90 suspected members of organised criminal gangs.
This comes at a time when security agencies are intensifying a crackdown on goonism and other forms of criminal activity in the Coast region.
According to a statement by the National Police Service, the suspects were arrested over the past two weeks through intelligence-led operations targeting criminal networks believed to be behind activities threatening the safety and security of residents.
NPS stated that the officers conducted coordinated surveillance and enforcement operations in identified hotspots before apprehending the suspects and presenting them in court to face various charges.
Additionally, the service said that the operation remains ongoing, with officers maintaining an active presence in affected areas as efforts to dismantle criminal gangs continue.
The police said the operation is intended not only to arrest suspects but also to restore confidence among residents by increasing security patrols and disrupting criminal networks operating in the region.
Furthermore, the Service reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led policing, saying it will continue pursuing individuals involved in organised crime while ensuring all enforcement operations are carried out in accordance with the law.
