The security detail assigned to East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Kanini Kega has allegedly been withdrawn.
In a statement shared on his X account on Monday, July 20, Kega claimed that he was no longer under official police protection, adding that despite the development, he remained steadfast in his faith.
The former Kieni MP, however, did not disclose when the alleged withdrawal took effect or provide details on the circumstances that led to the decision.

The development comes barely a week after Kega alleged that he narrowly escaped an attack by armed men while in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, during the campaigns for the Ol Kalou by-election.
According to Kega, he had been under surveillance by a group of about 10 armed individuals before they allegedly attempted to intercept his vehicle. He claimed the first incident occurred less than a kilometre from the Ol Kalou shopping centre when a double-cab vehicle blocked the road.
The EALA legislator said he became suspicious of the situation moments before one of the occupants allegedly pointed a firearm in his direction, prompting his driver to maneuver past the obstruction and continue the journey.
Kega further alleged that after escaping the first blockade, they encountered another vehicle a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado without number plates positioned across the road roughly 500 metres ahead.
He said they again managed to evade the vehicle before speeding toward Nyahururu, with the occupants allegedly giving chase.
He maintained that his vehicle’s speed enabled them to escape, after which he sought refuge at a shopping centre located between Ol Kalou and Ol Jororok.
While hiding there, Kega claimed the armed men located his parked vehicle and vandalised it by smashing all its windows.
