The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a 30-day notice directing traders and owners of unauthorised structures along the Ruiru-Githunguri-Uplands (B116) Road to vacate the road reserve.
In a public notice issued on Friday, July 10, KeNHA Director General Luka Kimeli said the move is part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow along the corridor.
According to KeNHA, all illegal roadside occupants, including traders and owners of unauthorised structures, are required to remove their goods and clear the road reserve within 30 days from the date of the notice.

The Authority said the exercise is aimed at reducing road accidents, eliminating obstructions along the highway and paving the way for infrastructure development within the project corridor.
KeNHA warned that any structures remaining on the road reserve after August 10, 2026, will be demolished, while those who fail to comply could face enforcement action under the laws governing road reserves.
The Authority urged all affected individuals to cooperate with the directive to facilitate the smooth implementation of the road safety initiative.
KeNHA also reaffirmed its commitment to improving the country’s road infrastructure through ongoing and planned projects, including the expansion of the Rironi-Mau Summit Highway.
