HELB Warns Public Over Fake KMTC Loan Dates

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has cautioned students about a fake notice circulating online claiming that applications for 2026/27 Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) first-time and subsequent loans will open on July 15.

In a public notice, HELB clarified that it did not issue the notice and urged students to verify all loan-related communication through its official channels.

“The KMTC loan application notice circulating online is FAKE and was not issued by HELB. Always verify all communication through HELB’s official channels only,” the notice read.

The fake notice is said to have targeted students who have been awaiting updates on the opening of the loan application portal, which HELB indicated will be expected in the second week of July.

The fake notice had advised KMTC students to prepare application documents ahead of the purported opening date.

However, HELB has dismissed the information as false and urged students to remain vigilant against misinformation and potential scams.

Additionally, the board emphasised that the only phone number that should not be used for enquiries or services is 0711052000, cautioning the public against using the one listed in the flagged notice.
