Infotrak Survey: Babu Owino Emerges Kenya’s Best-Performing MP

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has emerged as Kenya’s best-performing Member of Parliament in the latest Infotrak Research survey, topping the rankings with an approval rating of 80 percent.

The poll, released on Wednesday, July 1, placed Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga second with 78 percent, while Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Taveta MP John Bwire shared third place after each scored 76 percent.

In fourth place, Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek, Keiyo South MP Gideon Kipkoech, Belgut MP Nelson Koech and Mukurweini MP Kaguchia Gichohi all recorded approval ratings of 73 percent.

Aldai MP Marianne Kitany, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, Samburu East MP Jackson Lekumontare and Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako followed in fifth place with 72 percent each.

Mbooni MP Erastus Nzioka, Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi and Awendo MP John Walter Owino tied for sixth place, each registering a 71 percent approval rating.

Among senators, Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murang’o emerged as the best-performing with a 69 percent approval score. 

Nyandarua Senator John Methu was ranked second at 68 percent, followed by Murang’a Senator Joel Nyutu with 65 percent.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot completed the top five with approval ratings of 64 percent and 63 percent, respectively.

The latest recognition adds to Babu Owino’s growing list of accolades. 

In April, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator was named Kenya’s Best Member of Parliament during the Starleaders Awards ceremony held at Nairobi’s Serena Hotel.
