Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has visited Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi as the legislator continues to recover after suffering a stroke while receiving treatment in India.
In a statement on Monday, June 29, Natembeya said he had personally visited the MP to wish him a speedy recovery, adding that Wanyonyi remains in the thoughts and prayers of the people of Trans Nzoia.
The governor praised Wanyonyi’s dedication to public service, saying his leadership has made a lasting contribution to Kwanza Constituency and the wider Trans Nzoia County.

He expressed confidence that the legislator would make a full recovery and return to serving his constituents.
Natembeya also conveyed a message of solidarity to Wanyonyi, his family, and the people of Kwanza, wishing him strength, healing, and good health during his recovery.
The visit comes weeks after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula disclosed that Wanyonyi is currently unable to speak following his illness.
Addressing Parliament in May, Wetang’ula said the National Assembly facilitated Wanyonyi’s treatment in India after he developed serious health complications.
Although the MP has since returned to Kenya, he is undergoing speech therapy after losing his ability to speak.
According to the Speaker, Wanyonyi is able to hear and understand conversations but is not yet able to communicate verbally.
Wetang’ula noted that the situation had prompted Parliament to consider strengthening the use of sign language during House proceedings to better accommodate members with speech impairments.
