President William Ruto has launched a scathing attack on KANU Chairman Gideon Moi over headlines published by The Standard newspaper.
In a statement on Wednesday, June 24, President Ruto described the newspaper’s coverage as propaganda targeting his administration.
The Head of State accused The Standard of running what he termed a sustained campaign aimed at blackmailing his government, insisting that such efforts would not influence his administration or derail its development agenda.

“Gideon Moi, your Standard media’s 5 days a week extortionist propaganda headlines on me and my administration’s transformative track record will get you nothing and nowhere. Blackmail to yield to your greed? Never. Kenya belongs to all Kenyans, not you alone. Try 8 days a week. Do your worst,” President Ruto noted.
The President’s remarks appear to signal a fresh rift between him and Moi, despite the two leaders publicly reconciling in October 2025.
President Ruto and Moi held meetings at State House, Nairobi, and later at Kabarak in Nakuru County.
On October 10, 2025, Moi hosted President Ruto at Kabarak, where they were joined by local leaders for a meeting with KANU grassroots officials.
Following the meeting, Moi emphasized the importance of national unity and collective efforts in advancing the country’s development.
President Ruto also presented the engagement as part of a broader effort to foster political cooperation, urging leaders to put aside divisive politics and work together toward transforming Kenya into a prosperous nation.
