Justice Gatembu Kairu has been elected the new President of the Court of Appeal after emerging victorious in the just-concluded election, taking over the leadership of Kenya’s second-highest court.

The Judiciary announced on Monday, June 22, that Kairu garnered 26 of the 41 votes cast, defeating Lady Justice Lydia Achode, Justice Patrick Kiage and Lady Justice Agnes Murgor.

As President of the Court of Appeal, Kairu will be responsible for providing administrative and judicial leadership to the appellate court while overseeing its operations across the country.
