MP Njeri Maina Defends Clergy Amid Growing Conflict with Ruto Administration

Njeri Maina, Kirinyaga women representative has responded to the President Ruto’s government amid the clash between the church and President William Ruto’s government.

The clergy had said that the government was not doing its job to protect their people as there were a lot of abductions, disappearances and killings.

When the church said this government is God ordained, the same people now attacking it were happy. Let them take the current criticism in good Faith; the church has a right to express itself as Per Articles 32 and 33 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. Let them have their say without unwarranted political attacks.

The Member of Parliament said.

The clergy led by Archbishop Maurice Muhatia of Kisumu accused the leaders of Kenya over raising concerns including taxation, unemployment, disturbing gaps in the implementation of CBC and the transition from NHIF to the Social Health Authority (SHA) among those that I had mentioned before yet the government did not appear to respond towards it.

The President responded towards the allegations when he attended a graduation at Tangaza University in Nairobi.

The head of State said that even as the clergy among other engage in disclose matters that are important to the people of Kenya, they should be careful to be factual lest they become victims of things they accuse others of doing.
