One person has reportedly died while several students have been injured after a matatu carrying Ngondi Junior School learners overturned while returning from an academic activity at Maiella Main Comprehensive School.
According to reports, the vehicle lost its brakes before plunging into a valley along Maiella Road in Naivasha that residents say is in poor condition.
Unconfined reports indicate the driver of the ill-fated matatu allegedly died following the incident.

However, the police are yet to issue an official statement on the casualty figures by the time of this publication.
Additionally, several students sustained injuries, with reports suggesting that around 10 learners suffered soft tissue injuries while others sustained fractures.
The accident left the vehicle extensively damaged, with images from the scene showing the matatu lying upside down beside the road.
Emergency responders and other members of the public rushed to the scene to assist the victims before they were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The injured students were rushed to the Naivasha District Hospital Trauma Centre, where they are currently receiving treatment.
