The European Union (EU) and Equity Group Foundation have entered into a partnership that will enable 100 Kenyan students to secure placements in European universities every year for master’s degree studies.
The collaboration was formalized through a cooperation agreement signed by EU Ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger and Equity Group Foundation Executive Chairman James Mwangi.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Higher Education and Research Principal Secretary Beatrice Inyangala and Science, Research and Innovation Principal Secretary Shaukat Abdulrazak.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will work together to raise awareness of higher education opportunities in Europe among scholars enrolled in the Equity Leaders Program.
The initiative is expected to create a structured pathway through which 100 Equity scholars annually pursue postgraduate studies in various European countries.
The partnership aims to promote access to quality education, strengthen human capital development, and enhance cultural and academic exchanges between Kenya and Europe.
It also seeks to equip young Kenyan professionals with global skills, international exposure, and leadership capabilities needed to compete in an increasingly interconnected world.
Equity Group Foundation said the programme builds on its efforts to expand educational opportunities beyond traditional destinations and provide scholars with broader global pathways.
The foundation views international education as a key avenue for nurturing leadership, innovation, and cross-border collaboration.
The agreement has also been welcomed by the State Department for Higher Education, which noted that international partnerships play a critical role in advancing higher learning, research, and innovation in Kenya.
Officials said such collaborations provide students and researchers with access to world-class education, advanced research opportunities, and emerging technologies while strengthening local institutions and academic programmes.
The initiative is expected to deepen educational ties between Kenya and Europe while opening new opportunities for talented Kenyan students seeking postgraduate studies abroad.
