Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters, through the Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU), have arrested a suspect linked to a land fraud scheme that defrauded a buyer of Sh900,000.
The suspect, identified as Andrew Gachagua Njui, was apprehended following investigations into a complaint lodged by a victim who believed he was purchasing a parcel of land in Molo.
According to investigators, the complainant entered into what appeared to be a legitimate transaction and transferred Sh900,000 to the suspect.

However, doubts emerged after the buyer conducted an official land search, which revealed that the parcel in question was not owned by the suspect but was registered under a different individual.
Following the discovery, the matter was reported to the DCI, prompting investigations that culminated in the suspect being charged in court.
The case was scheduled for hearing on May 26, 2026, at the Principal Magistrateβs Court in Molo. However, the accused failed to appear in court, leading to the issuance of a warrant of arrest.
Acting on intelligence, detectives later tracked down the suspect to a hideout in the Giathege area of Othaya, Nyeri County, where he was arrested and taken into custody.
Authorities say the suspect is currently being processed as he awaits his next court appearance. Investigations into the fraud case are ongoing.
The DCI has reiterated the need for caution among members of the public when engaging in land transactions, urging buyers to conduct proper due diligence to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
