Millions Recovered as EACC Raids Nairobi County Official’s Home

Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) recovered millions of shillings after raiding the home of Nairobi County Chief Officer for Urban Planning, Patrick Analo.

The operation, conducted on Thursday, June 4, involved EACC investigators working alongside officers from the National Police Service.

During the raid, detectives reportedly discovered large sums of cash stashed in suitcases within the residence.

Preliminary reports estimate the recovered money to be about Ksh250 million. The cash was confiscated and is now being treated as evidence as investigations into alleged corruption continue.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether Analo was present during the raid or if he was taken into custody in connection with the ongoing graft probe.

The EACC reiterated its commitment to recovering stolen public funds and holding accountable individuals suspected of engaging in corruption and economic crimes.

The raid has attracted public reaction, with some leaders, including Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, welcoming the operation and noting that concerns had previously been raised about the official.

The commission has recently intensified its crackdown on corruption within county governments, targeting officials suspected of procurement irregularities and abuse of office.

In a related case, EACC recently arrested Nyamira County Assembly Clerk Duke Onyari over alleged irregularities in an office block tender, with the file later forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for approval of charges.

Several other county officials are also expected to face charges including abuse of office, negligence of duty, and failure to comply with public finance management laws.

Separately, the commission has arrested other public officers in different counties over bribery allegations, as part of its wider campaign against corruption in public service institutions.
