DCI Denies Claims of Stopping Rigathi Gachagua from Attending Church Service

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismissed claims of denying former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from attending church.

They released their statement on their social media account on Facebook.

According to the DCI, the claims prevent Rigathi Gachagua from attending a church service was published on 11th November 2024 by Daily Nation.

According to Daily Nation, there were alleged attempts by detectives in an unmarked Subaru cars who prevented Rigathi Gachagua from attending a church service in Nairobi.

In their statement, they stated that they wanted to clarify that those allegations were entirely false and seemed to be aimed at misrepresenting the actions and intentions of the DCI.

The DCI operates within the parameters established by the rule of law and has consistency affirmed its commitment to refraining from interference in the liberties of individuals and institutions.

The DCI added in their statement it was incorrect the fact that the writer was unable to obtain a comment from the DCI.

The DCI said that they provided a prompt response, reaffirming the DCI’S commitment to respecting the autonomy of religious institutions and the writer acknowledged receipt of their response.

The Director of criminal Investigations cautioned the Daily Nation to make it a mandatory to thoroughly verify facts, present balanced perspectives and handle sensitive topics carefully to uphold its commitment to truth and fairness in journalism.

The further said that the caution should be taken seriously especially when it affects individuals’ reputations and the integrity of institutions.
