Kenya Copyright Board officers have arrested three suspects in Nairobi over allegations of operating an unauthorized system for exhibiting and distributing copyright-protected content.
The operation was carried out on Wednesday, May 27 at Syvy Plaza in Pipeline, Kware, Embakasi, where enforcement teams also seized equipment believed to have been used in illegal broadcasting activities.
According to the board, the confiscated items included DStv decoders, amplifiers, signal splitters, cables, and other accessories suspected of facilitating unlawful access and public screening of premium content.

The suspects were taken into custody and are expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
In a separate operation within Nairobi, KECOBO also responded to complaints linked to possible territorial rights violations at a local hotel, as part of its broader crackdown on copyright infringement.
The board has intensified enforcement actions in recent months, targeting illegal exhibition and distribution networks that it says undermine the creative industry and deny rightful owners their earnings.
KECOBO further urged members of the public to avoid engaging in or supporting unauthorized broadcasting or distribution of protected works, noting that such activities are illegal and punishable by law.
It also encouraged the public to report suspected cases of copyright infringement to support ongoing enforcement efforts aimed at protecting intellectual property rights in Kenya.
